We were gifted some raw dog food to try made by UberPet, Snap is currently eating Bella & Duke, therefore, it will be interesting to see what a different raw food brand can offer. This post will go into more detail regarding UberPet themselves, information about a raw diet for your dog and our verdict on their products. We will take you through our raw food experience and ultimately tell you the final verdict on their products so you can shop confidently when looking for a raw diet for your precious canine friend!

So, we were approached by UberPet via our Instagram page, asking us if we would be happy to review their product and let you guys know about them. Snap has always eaten raw food as it was recommended by his breeders down in south Wales. We were very happy to take on the opportunity and give a different brand a try.
Introduction to UberPet:
UberPet was created by a group of friends in the UK city of Manchester. They started to look into dog diets and how it impacts their health. It turns out dogs have the same symptoms as humans when it comes to food, some people are gluten intolerant and some food caused hyperactivity. Therefore, the group of friends went on to make a raw food dog brand.
UberPet is 100% natural raw food which is biologically appropriate raw food (BARF) using prime cuts of British meat. Their food is free from artificial colours, preservatives, unlike commercial grade food you would more likely find at your local pet store. Their food is also grain free. Each of their meals is no less than 75% meat, high in protein and free from colouring and flavourings. The food is frozen to preserve all of its goodness.
Raw Food
There is some quite important information when it comes to getting your dog on raw food. You can’t just go from normal shop grade food and straight into a raw diet as this could upset your dogs tummy. Therefore, you need to introduce the raw food in slowly so they can get used to it. I won’t go into too much detail regarding this, as I think this topic deserves a post for itself. But I will go into a list of positives and negatives regarding a raw diet.
Positives:

- Calmer dog
- Healthier teeth
- Helps improve digestion
- helps with weight management
- Smaller, more solid, less odorous poo

UberPet Feeding Guidelines
First impressions of UberPet:
When we received the package, it came in a brown box. Within the box was insulation which is used to keep the raw food frozen. When we took the lid off, Snap was super excited to see what was in his large box of presents. He could smell the food with his sniffer and was pushing me out of the way to get to it.
Looking into the box there was a pile of frozen boxes with cardboard sleeves on them. They looked professionally done, with each box with a catchy slogan across them, Uberlicious which blends in well with their brand.
I couldn’t believe how many packs they sent us, I was expecting like 4 boxes. Therefore we are going to be able to gather a good review of their products for you guys.
Flavours:
We will now go through each flavour we received in our hamper. We will talk about the contents/ingredients of each dish, our personal views of the food and ultimately what Snaps thoughts of them were.
Beef:

Snaps experience:
Snap thoroughly enjoyed the beef dish, he loves the Bella & Duke beef we found that UberPet was a lot softer than Bella & Duke. The food looked nice, you could see veg in there and lots of beef of course. The boxes had a blood collector at the bottom of the tray, which is good for people who don’t like the sight of blood. For us, we like the blood as we pour it over the beef in Snaps bowl. Yet again, you didn’t really need to do that as the food was already really soft and juicy anyway.
Snap literally demolished the beef in a few mins, even with his special bowl to slow him down on eating it. The beef definitely gets paws up from Snap and hands up from the hoomans.
Chicken:

Snaps experience:
Snap thoroughly enjoyed the chicken meal, he was jumping with excitement whilst we were taking photos of the food on the kitchen top. As you can see from the photo, there is again a lot of veg amongst the meat which just shows how fresh UberPet food really is.
The dish did look very promising, it was lovely and moist, looked almost edible to eat yourself, of course with cooking. Snap gave this dish a big paws up.
Duck:

Snaps experience:
The duck dish did look rather promising, it had a different kind of smell to the beef and chicken one. It wasn’t a strong smell but you could tell the difference. Snap sat patiently next to us trying to work out why we are taking so long these days with serving his food up.
Snaps experience of the Duck wasn’t very positive, he sniffed it a bit and had a little bit of a nibble. He didn’t take to this dish but he did try his best to eat it. He kept going to back to see if it tasted any different but gave up trying. I am sure others may like this dish, the duck may not be Snaps cup of tea. Snap does like to have food which has a little bit of something to chew. The duck was very moist which may have put off Snap or it could have been the smell or just simply the taste of it…
Meat Feast:

Snaps experience:
Snap was a little weary on the Meat Feast, he didn’t scoff it down in one go like he normally does hence with slow feeding bowl we have. However, he did eat it all, it could of simply just been that it was hot and he didn’t feel like eating. The food looked good a little sloppy however but most certainly juicy.
Turkey:

Snap thoroughly enjoyed the Turkey Meal, he devoured this just like he devours the Bella & Duke. This meal got a firm paws up from Snap.
Bird Feast:

Snaps experience:
Snap wasn’t too keen on this meal just like the fish feast one, which was very odd as there isn’t anything unusual with the ingredients. It could have been the fact there were too many different meats in it and it had confused him. He gave the food a quick nibble and kept going back to it but ultimately left it all.

Snaps experience:
Let us start with our experience with the Fish Feast, so the food was green of colour which is a little odd but yet again, there is no food colouring in UberPet food so I suppose it is all natural. When we took the plastic film off the lid of the food, I think half of the neighbourhood dogs could smell Snaps fishy meal. It doesn’t help that we live with someone who hates the smell of fish so they had to move out for a few days.
But yet, we thought to see if Snap liked it, I mean it’s fish at the end of the day, full of Omega 3 and super healthy. Snap again wasn’t too keen on this fishy dish, he had a quick sniff and tried a little. He then quickly gulped down a large amount of water and left the bowl full.
This has now gotten us wondering whether Snap likes anything fish as he wasn’t 100% keen on the Surf and Turf flavour Guru cold pressed pet food.
Pricing:
Small Hampers: 6 x 500g (3kgs) £2.50 per tray
Medium Hampers: 15 x 500g (7.5kgs) £2.40 per tray
Large Hampers: 30 x 500g (15kgs) 2.30 per tray.
All of these will incur a £5.50 delivery charge unless you want a priority delivery which will set you back £8.50.
In regard to Snap, he weighs roughly 18kgs at the time of this post so he needed to eat 1 tray a day.
Verdict:
We have thoroughly enjoyed reviewing UberPets food, it has given us a lot of things to think about regarding our original raw meat brand. We loved the posh packaging with the cardboard front which explains each dish however there were a few things we would change with it. The cardboard is obviously recyclable, however, the plastic isn’t. We also didn’t like the fact where we couldn’t reseal the food in the packaging as sometimes Snap doesn’t eat all his requirements in one go.
The cloth (blood collector) at the bottom of the packaging is a good idea to soak up the blood if you weren’t a fan of it. We thought this was a brill idea, it didn’t make the food dry out all either.
We found the cost of the food reasonable, there is a lot more pricer food out there but you most certainly do get what you’re paying for.
